It's On!

It’s too soon to wear shorts, too soon to plant zinnias, too soon to do Christmas shopping, but, ladies, it’s just the right time to circle Saturday, December 6th, on your calendar for the Women’s Advent Luncheon.

The Advent Planning Team sensed the Lord giving us His go-for-it and we are thanking and asking the Lord for His wisdom and guidance. Gwen Kurtz has decorating ideas swirling in her head and Sue Mortinson is taste-testing recipes. Best of all, Ruth Hryshkanych (pronounced rish-kah-nah)of Lake Lundgren Bible Camp has agreed to be our guest speaker.

So pick up that magic marker, circle December 6th, and get ready!!

Filling Menominee with Zinnia Flowers

Years ago, the local businesses handed out Zinnia seeds, so residents of Menominee could fill the town with beautiful Zinnia Flowers.  It was reported people traveled from all over to visit the city and see the beautiful flowers.  The city also celebrated with Zinnia Festivals.
It requires faith to put a seed in the ground, expecting it to grow.  Likewise, if God is to make a difference in this community, it requires faith.  Throughout the Bible, God always required faith of His people to do anything.  It took faith for Peter to walk on liquid water.  It took faith to see people healed from various diseases.  It took faith to see the Red Sea waters to part.    It also takes faith to believe Jesus is the Son of God.

This April, we are mailing every Menominee resident an Easter invite & packet of custom printed Zinnia seeds.  Cards will have a Gospel message (sharing our hope in Jesus to make a difference) and an invite to North Shore's (or any area church's) Easter Service.  We want people of Menominee to take a step of faith and witness what God can really do in our community.

Each mailing costs about $0.70.  It requires about $3000, for everyone in Menominee will receive the Gospel message, a packet of seeds to plant, and an invite to attend a local church. If you would like to help sponsor a segment of cards, please make donations of any size to North Shore Church, memo "Seeds for Change."

Menominee will be a beautiful place again, not because it will be filled with flowers again, but because God is at work among the people here.
