A well known pastor said, "our system is perfectly designed to get the results we're getting." If we want different or better results, then we need to improve the system.

A few years ago, North Shore conducted an NCD (Natural Church Development) survey, which revealed the need to improve our Effective Structures. For a number of months, a team of leaders has been meeting and working to address our systems and area ministries.

This past Sunday (July 12), during the sermon, Pastor Travis revealed some of those changes. (if you missed the message, please visit online and listen to it).

A group was selected (called the Serve Team), to contact every ministry leader at North Shore, help them evaluate effectiveness, draft vision and mission statements, and come up with a plan on how to make their ministry operate with excellence.

Members of the Serve Team and Leadership will be contacting everyone at North Shore, asking to help get involved to make the ministries more awesome.

Initially, everyone will be asked to help as Assistants (people who simply help in needed areas, but do not need special training or will ever be asked to be responsible for advanced duties...like teach a class or prepare for an event).

Then, within specific ministries (Sunday morning, Wed Nights, MOPS, etc), levels of training will be established. Each ministry area will have Mentors (to set the standards of excellence and effectively train Apprentices); Apprentices(learn the standards within that particular ministry. Depending on the tasks, training may take minutes or months); and Professional (or competent worker, who was an Apprentice, but has demonstrated they can fulfill the necessary duties of that ministry with excellence.)

Ministry Scheduler Pro (MSP) is a helpful tool we will use to efficiently schedule our volunteers. We encourage all volunteers to use this tool to monitor when they are scheduled. (please contact the office if you need assistance with logging in or using MSP).

It is our intended purpose to help everyone get involved and grow in their faith. And, effective systems help churches create opportunities for people to take steps of faith, grow in their faith and serve others.

If you have any questions, concerns, or something needs clarification, please contact the office.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED WITH INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS RIGHT FROM YOUR HOME?

Do you have a heart for international missions and are looking for a way to get involved? Right in our own community, there is a wonderful ministry opportunity awaiting people like YOU to get involved! The international program at UW-Marinette is actively seeking new host and friendship families for the upcoming academic year.

So, what’s the responsibilityA host family takes a student for an academic year or semester into their home. The student is essentially welcomed into your home as a member of the family. This is a great opportunity for those wishing to learn about a new culture and really invest in the life of someone new. You are compensated for their expenses!

If hosting a student is more of a responsibility than you’d like to commit to, consider being a friendship family. A friendship family hosts a student for the first week or two after their arrival, until their student housing is ready. The family then can meet with the student once a month (or as often as you’d like!) as a sort of “check-in” session to see how things are going for them, and to introduced them to things in American culture they might not experience otherwise.

The sad reality is that students are often confined to campus or their student housing because they are without the ability to drive or get themselves anywhere. They sometimes find themselves disappointed in their experience because they hope to be more invested in American culture than they get to be. If this is an opportunity that peaks your interest at all, please prayerfully consider it! Host families need to be organized as soon as possible, so please don’t wait! For further information or an application, see Kim Hurkmans or call her at 715-923-9113.
