HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED WITH INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS RIGHT FROM YOUR HOME?

Do you have a heart for international missions and are looking for a way to get involved? Right in our own community, there is a wonderful ministry opportunity awaiting people like YOU to get involved! The international program at UW-Marinette is actively seeking new host and friendship families for the upcoming academic year.

So, what’s the responsibilityA host family takes a student for an academic year or semester into their home. The student is essentially welcomed into your home as a member of the family. This is a great opportunity for those wishing to learn about a new culture and really invest in the life of someone new. You are compensated for their expenses!

If hosting a student is more of a responsibility than you’d like to commit to, consider being a friendship family. A friendship family hosts a student for the first week or two after their arrival, until their student housing is ready. The family then can meet with the student once a month (or as often as you’d like!) as a sort of “check-in” session to see how things are going for them, and to introduced them to things in American culture they might not experience otherwise.

The sad reality is that students are often confined to campus or their student housing because they are without the ability to drive or get themselves anywhere. They sometimes find themselves disappointed in their experience because they hope to be more invested in American culture than they get to be. If this is an opportunity that peaks your interest at all, please prayerfully consider it! Host families need to be organized as soon as possible, so please don’t wait!
